Critical Roots & Razor Coast

As a designer myself I always look at a video game and can see the influences from my beloved tabletop hobbies, such as Gears of War and their Warhammer 40k aesthetics or how Skyrim is influenced from D&D. Hell, they have old TSR members working for them. To tie R&R into tabletop few months ago we started Rolling Live with OnAir gaming sessions, but we wanted to showcase the tabletop hobby a little more, so today R&R is announcing a new section called Critical Roots.
Being that my love for tabletop is so damn high, I will be pulling out all the stops and doing what I do the best, giving you an unfiltered view through a high ABV on the tabletop industry, it’s people, and most of all what is worth your valued time.

To start this column off with a black powder bang! myself, LazarusReturnz will be interviewing the Producer of Razor Coast and word has it Greg Vaughnn will be joining us in a tantalizing hour of pirate like discussion about Razor Coast and it’s rebirth from the ashes with Frog God Games help. So bring some rum and get those sexy questions ready to join us at www.refreshandreload.com or our YouTube Channel.

9:30 CST
Get ready for rum filed fun!

Flesh, metal, machine and bullets! I am so damn hyped for this game that it makes my body jump right out of my skin. Finally one of my favorite tabletop games of all time, Cyberpunk, is being produced by one of my favorite video game companies, CD Projekt Red the masterminds behind The Witcher. Seriously, the amount of awesome that shall be born out of this project may cause the earth to move and this is just a teaser. Get your Mr.Stud implant ready to go. Indie Game: The Movie

Many of you may know I love game design. To me games are the complete version of art. I say this because the encompass everything art represents. Look at a great Indie game such as Braid, Meatboy, or Fez each one of them encompass story to graphics, emotion to action and then they are wrapped up in deep meaning and interactivity. These are just some of the reasons I love game design.
Yeah, yeah I know Lazarus is being all serious so I’ll shut up and tell the club to grab a beer and watch Indie Game: The Movie, which does exactly what I’m trying to say. What was that? What beer do you grab? Am I your keeper of beers....ok so I am.

Since it’s winter out here in Milwaukee I recommend MIssion’s Dark Seas Imperial Stout. This dark thick motor oil of a beer pours silent with an almost reddish brown head found floating above a dark sea before capsizing into Davy Jones Locker. The taste is god like with the flavors of rich milk chocolate, bitter chunks of coca in the background, as little tid bits of fruits, raisins and plum on the back. This beer is something that you will go back to again and again like a game you refuse to sell no matter how many times you have beat it.

Now go find yourself a Mission Beer and enjoy a brewery out of San Diego California that has won two national medals from the Great American Beer Festival.

Do yourself a favor and watch Indie Game: The Movie with a beer in hand and afterwards go download a new Indie Title from xbox live, steam or where ever you get your gaming fix. I know I’ll be playing some Castle Crashers for old time sake.
