Double Dragon Neon. What is up!

It’s late and I mean that time at night when you should be asleep but that second wind has kicked in. And what do we always say the cure is? Why buying a new game on Xbox Arcade at 6 am and cracking open a beer of course-oh, and that not sleeping thing.

Cortex Command, explosions and 8-Bit IPA

This week in Gaming Buzz we adhere to destruction and nostalgia because that's the stuff dreams are made of.

Damnit, we love indie developers and there's not enough time in a day to discover every gem. We'll uncover the right beer pairing for this next game and then I'd suggest you take work off; you'll likely have a hard time stopping inebriated world domination. I stumbled upon Data Realms' Cortex Command on steam last night and naturally I needed to share it. If you want nostalgia, then you've come to the right place. A combination of the old series Worms and the base-building defense games of old, Cortex Command implements a damn good physics engine to bring both of these together. Have you been reading my dairy Data Realms? A Worms game with a fully functional modern day physics engine? It's like morning sex without the bad breath and no, you don't have to go to work afterwards.

In Cortex Command, you dig for gold and constantly buy new upgrades in hopes of dominating the less than friendly new planet you've arrived on. Playing as a brain that controls armies of bodies and builds bunkers sounds like an old Mystery Science Theatre 3000 episode but fun none the less. Aside from the recently added campaign for the game, there's four player co-op split screen. Yeah I know, I wish it was online as well but the game is a work in progress The $20 license gets you all future versions for free. Did I mentioned they're DRM-free so you can install the game on any computer you deem worthy? It also features easy modding tools for players to create their own content. Free user generated content is always an excellent choice.

There's something special about tunneling underneath an enemy's fortress and blowing that shit up. It gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside, just like drinking a damn fine IPA. I'd recommend an 8-Bit IPA from Tallgrass Brewery for this one. You get that pixel graphic nostalgia from both and the warm fuzzy feeling only grows stronger with each sip and each bunker mercilessly destroyed. The Australian Galaxy hops used gives you a unique twist on American IPAs and why not celebrate by unadulterated destruction via rockets as 8-Bit may suggest? There's enough depth and fun to bring you back to both. Be sure to follow us on twitter @askrandr and subscribe to our RSS feed boys and girls for more inebriated adventures.

Interview with Mark of the Ninja's lead designer Nels Anderson

After playing through Mark of the Ninja and enjoying ourselves thoroughly we might add, we decided to try and catch up with the lead designer at Klei Entertainment, Nels Anderson. We had questions most everyone would have...like what beer goes best with Mark of Ninja? Is there DLC planned in the future? And how does the inverse law of ninjas work?
